The city of Paterson has a rich and well-documented industrial history.   On the site that was once the Rogers Locomotive and Machine works plant, is where the Paterson Museum is today.  Giacomo Destefano is the museum director.  He says revolutions in the silk and firearms industries crossed paths not too far away.

On the morning of April 19th, 1995, Kathy Sanders dropped off her grandchildren at the daycare center located in the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.  Hours later her life would change forever.

“Twenty-two years ago, the morning of the bombing, I became a victim.  I didn’t have any choice.  When I began to pray for the men who killed my grandchildren, I don’t know what it did for [Timothy] McVeigh or [Terry] Nichols but it began to change my life.”

Kathy Sanders found forgiveness in an unexpected way.

The Berkeley College Men's Basketball team in New York City won 53 games in a row to claim it's third consecutive USCAA Division 2 Championship.  Berkeley defeated Penn State-York 80-76 in overtime to grab the title.

Coach Chris Christensen sat down on the bench when it appeared their opponents only had to make a free throw to win the championship game.  It was the first time the coach had taken a seat the entire contest.  He says divine intervention may have led to another victory:

Dr. Randal Pinkett, CEO of the Newark based national consulting firm BCT Partners won season four of the reality television ‘The Apprentice’.  He visited Berkeley College in Woodland Park to share his experience in business with students for the school’s Black History Month speaker’s series.

So what advice does the CEO of a billion-dollar company give to college students? Pinkett says to find your passion.

After spending four months in jail for selling drugs six years ago, Edison Jaquez has turned his life around and is now giving back to his community.  Jaquez, of Perth Amboy, New Jersey is the 2016 Berkeley College Alumnus of the Year.  Jaquez created the mentor group B-Men so he could help troubled teenagers.  Listen above to the in-depth interview with the author and WBGO News Director Doug Doyle.
