Watch Pianist Michael Wolff Perform in Our Studio, and Hear an Interview on Morning Jazz

John Abbott
Michael Wolff

With his new release, Zenith, pianist Michael Wolff has captured the diverse spirit of a solo recording done exceptionally well. The album includes an original New Orleans bounce, some Coltrane in ragtime, Sufjan Stevens and more.

Michael stopped by Morning Jazz to chat about his past associations with Sonny Rollins, Cal Tjader, Cannonball Adderley and Nancy Wilson — and play some inspired piano  on our Steinway grand.

In jazz radio, great announcers are distinguished by their ability to convey the spontaneity and passion of the music. Gary Walker is such an announcer, and his enthusiasm for this music greets WBGO listeners every morning. This winner of the 1996 Gavin Magazine Jazz Radio Personality of the Year award has hosted the morning show each weekday from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. And, by his own admission, he's truly having a great time.
Corey fell in love with jazz by the time he got to track 2 on his first listen of Miles Ahead. He engineers WBGO’s live in-studio performances and off site events, produces on-air spots and long form programming, and coordinates the daily log of promotional and underwriting announcements. His audio production, writing, and voice-over work have earned two New Jersey Broadcasters Association awards. Corey is a graduate of Rutgers University’s Jazz History and Research M.A. program.
