Democratic Ambassador Phil Murphy received some pretty good news regarding his campaign for governor.
New Jersey US Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker are the latest to endorse the democrat for governor.
"Two extraordinary United States Senators, Cory Booker and Bob Menendez. As good as it gets in this country. As good as any partners you can hope to have. I’m humbled by your endorsement today gentleman. I’m looking forward to getting out in the hustings and rolling up our sleeves together,” Murphy said.
Murphy has seen a large portion of the state’s top Democratic Party leaders show their support.
"I believe there is no greater leader positioned to be the governor that takes us forward, and expands economic opportunity from our rural areas to our cities, from north to south, there’s nobody better for that position than Phil Murphy,” Booker said.
As the endorsements keep coming in, the pressure is building on other democratic hopefuls and Republican leadership to compete with Murphy’s momentum.
"I can’t tell you how hard it is for senator Booker and I to fight for millions of dollars only to see them lost because of the lack of leadership in the Governor’s office. I know that that is going to change,” Menendez said to an excited audience.
Murphy was the first to declare his candidacy to be New Jersey’s next governor. He’s being challenged by Assemblyman John Wisniewski among others in June’s Democratic primary.
