Brandy Wood

Marketing Manager

In her time as Marketing Manager for “the galaxy’s greatest jazz station” (Tim Heffernan, Esquire), Brandy has overseen a rebranding of the NPR affiliate, created a social media presence for the organization and partnered with event producers, venues and other media outlets to help strengthen connections with longtime listeners as well as reach out to new audiences.

Her background in jazz includes working for George Wein’s Festival Productions, Inc. and graduating from New York University with a degree in jazz performance. She performed as bassist with the (then) Virgin Records group Cracker, has been a Gallien Kruger endorsed artist and currently lives in Washington Heights with her husband and twin daughters.

Ways to Connect

Giving Tuesday

Nov 15, 2017

WBGO gives thanks every day for the music, and for you! Because when you make the investment in WBGO by becoming a member, you choose to support our music's past, present and future. The music discovery and community building WBGO provides only happens with your support.

That's why we wanted to ask you to save the date for #GivingTuesday. On that day, WBGO will kick off our annual coat drive, and seek to top last year's record giving by breaking the $10,000 mark. Join the movement! CONTRIBUTE NOW!

Each year, Michael Bourne asks listeners of The Blues Break to send him their favorite artists. While there's been a fierce competition for first place between two blues giants, maybe 2017 will be the year of the upset.

The poll is now closed. Tune in on November 21, 22 & 23 during The Blues Break (2-4pm) to hear the results.

Holyrood Church
Brandy Wood for WBGO

Amanda Morales Guerra has spent the last two months inside the Holyrood Church in Washington Heights. Community members ferry her children back and forth to school. Volunteers come in several times each week to teach her English. Earlier this month, Amanda came out to the steps of the church to greet a group from a local synagogue. She could not venture further, for fear of deportation and separation from her family.

WBGO is a proud partner of the TD James Moody Jazz Festival at NJPAC in Newark. We are thrilled to present two member events on Sunday, November 12 on the final day of the festival.

The WBGO News Team won seven national and four state awards over the weekend!

WBGO won a total of seven awards, including four first place, in PRNDI's (Public Radio News Directors Incorporated) Division "C" category for newsrooms with 3 full-timers or less. The goal of the PRNDI awards is to honor the best in local public radio. This year's annual PRNDI Awards Banquet was held in Florida Saturday night.  More than 200 journalists attended the conference in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.
