NEA Jazz Masters - 2007

The title NEA Jazz Master is the highest honor bestowed by the US government to a jazz musician. Each year, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) recognizes seven outstanding jazz musicians for their significant contributions to American culture through their music. Among the luminaries who have previously received this award are Dizzy Gillespie, Nancy Wilson, Freddie Hubbard, Chick Corea, industry manager John Levy (for his work as a jazz manager) and many others. Each member receives a fellowship award of $25,000 and is invited to participate in outreach efforts, including broadcasts and NEA Jazz Masters On Tour. Complete information on the NEA Jazz Masters can be found here)
