A Guide to Collective Melancholy is a photographic series created by the artist as he moved between Russia and the United States over a nine year period. Through this work, Romaniko explores ideas about changing social and political relationships. He references narratives about post-Soviet Russia has resisted or embraced change, and the trauma associated with the events that have unfolded in the last few decades.
