About the WBGO Staff
In this era of broadcast deregulation, radio stations come and go, personnel changes continually, and the public really isn't served. The WBGO staff, like the radio station itself, is an anomaly.
Several employees have worked for the station virtually since its inception, led by announcers Rhonda Hamilton, Michael Bourne, Music Director Gary Walker, and Dorthaan Kirk, the station's Special Events and Programs Coordinator, who literally has been here since the day in 1979 when WBGO became a full-time jazz station.
WBGO has been lauded annually by its Washington D.C.-based FCC legal counsel for its work force and audience diversity. The station currently has a multi-generational and culturally diverse staff of 50 full-time and part-time paid employees. The list of employees and their e-mail addresses can be found in the InfoCenter portion of this website.
WBGO staff members embody the spirit of jazz - harmonious team players and creative individualists, pulling together as an ensemble to provide a seamless listening experience for you.
